Greetings! Welcome to Alphasongs.

Alphasongs LLC is my own personal miracle, born only seven years ago as I began my sixties, discovering and developing my abilities to compose music. This website contains my catalog of over twenty a cappella songs in multiple genres, along with my personal weblog, stories, and events. Thank you in advance for taking time to view my website; I hope you enjoy my songs and stories.

Prior to my musical endeavor, I was professionally employed as a senior data engineer at Expedia, a Fortune 500 company in the travel business. In a side activity at this company, I sang in a contemporary a cappella music group for a couple of years and was thrilled to experience being onstage with mic in hand, singing from memory. Toward the end of my time with the group, I discovered that the software we were using to manage our scores—Musescore—also has music notation software available to download. In spring of 2019, I began using this software, which was sufficiently intuitive that I was able to begin composing music right away.

Several months later, I had composed a few original scores after dabbling in arrangements of other’s music. I was beginning to get a sense of confidence when I shared a song with John Muehleisen, a professional composer featured in a concert series I was performing in with the Kirkland Choral Society. That was a special moment, beginning a special relationship with John as my mentor and teacher in this endeavor, which is something I consider to be a personal miracle. It also happened just before COVID, which could have ended the whole journey. But it didn’t! And John has taught me and mentored me over the years since.

This website was launched in 2023 and was updated extensively in 2024 with John's help. As it turned out, we had both worked at Getty Images earlier in our careers. John was a Usability Engineer there; I was a Software Development Manager. Thus, our earlier professional experience became instrumental in the development of this website, where you can explore my music on the Catalog page. I also have a blog where I share My Two Cents every month or so. The latest video demos of my songs feature new AI based software that can sing words from the written scores. These tools are just beginning to emerge and will provide you with a much better way to hear the songs without rehearsing live singers. I also have videos of my compositions from YouTube and audio content from SoundCloud embedded in the pages of this website, along with perusal scores, lyrics, and program notes.

All songs are registered with ASCAP; Alphasongs LLC is an official ASCAP Music Publisher and is registered in the state of Washington, USA.
