Kearns (ASCAP) Verse 1  The Itsy Bitsy spider climbed up the waterspout, Down came the rain and washed the spider out, Out came the sun and dried up all the rain, And the Itsy Bitsy spider climbed up the spout again. Itsy Bitsy, Itsy Bitsy, Itsy Bitsy, Itsy Bitsy, Verse 2  The Itsy Bitsy spider came down the spout in haste, Tripped, fell into some radioactive waste, Then a bolt of lightning hit the bubbling pool, And Miss Itsy Bitsy spider was glowing really cool. Itsy Bitsy, Itsy Bitsy, Itsy Bitsy, Itsy Bitsy, Spoken solo (alto): "I think she's getting larger!!" Spoken solo (sop.): "Look at her glow!!" Verse 3  She caught the attention of handsome Spidey Pete, Spun him a web and loved him so sweet, But she kept growing larger and gave poor Pete a hug Her huge arms crushed him, crushed him like a bug. Spoken solo (alto): "Oh Dear!! Death and sorrow!" Spoken solo (sop.): "Poor Pete!! No tomorrow!" Itsy Bitsy, Itsy Bitsy, Not so Itsy, Not so Bitsy, Verse 4  Now Itsy was a widow, a widow that was black, Glowing, growing larger and ready to attack, The web she spun was sagging as she was getting tall. Then the strands began to buckle and Itsy took a fall. Itsy Bitsy, Itsy Bitsy, Not so Itsy, Not so Bitsy, Verse 5  She landed on all eight, so Miss Itsy crawl'd away, Looking like tarantula, getting larger every day. She crawl'd into the forest to find a place to hide, But all the other spiders crawl'd to be at her side. Itsy Bitsy, Itsy Bitsy, Not so Itsy, Not so Bitsy, Itsy Bitsy, Itsy Bitsy, Not so Itsy, Not so Bitsy, Verse 6 One day I walk'd the forest late on Halloween. Heard the leaves rustling and then I heard a scream, (Sop/Alto) Scream (solo) "Aaahhhh!!" (Sop.) Shout rhythmically (solo) "Oh my!! Gah Gah Gah Gah!" (Alto) Shout rhythmically (solo) "It's her!! - Aragaga!!" (Sop/Alto) Scream (solo) "Run!!" Itsy Bitsy, Itsy Bitsy, Not so Itsy, Not so Bitsy, Verse 7 Her name is Aragaga and she’s the spider queen. Tries to stay in hiding, except on Halloween. Comes out to find that waterspout that once wash'd her away, As she frightens all the rest of us on Halloween day. Itsy Bitsy, Itsy Bitsy, Not so Itsy, Not so Bitsy, O my "gah!", it’s Aragaga! Aragaga! Aragaga! (Shout) Run! Notes: OK, I must confess some fascination with spiders. As a boy, I used to collect them in jars and watch them in captivity for a while, then I’d let them go. The Itsy Bitsy song (1st verse) was a favorite when my children were growing up. My wife and I would sing Itsy Bitsy spider to them often. Of course, they also grew up loving Harry Potter and its occasional tales of creepy spiders. So, at the crossroads of these tales, I developed the tale of Miss Itsy Bitsy and how she became Aragaga, Queen of the giant forest spiders, a new arrangement to help celebrate Halloween. Musically, this is a fun 7 verse journey through variations on the original Itsy Bitsy spider song theme. Alto carries the melody, and the soprano either doubles, or has a descant harmony to the theme, while Tenor and Bass supply the rhythm elements in a more instrumental role. A fun 4 part arrangement with rhythm and variation. Performance Notes This piece is scored for small to medium vocal ensemble. There is a part written for hand claps. The clapping parts are intended to be a starting point for adding rhythmic emphasis. The percussive parts are intended to emphasize rhythm and enhance timing. These are optional and could be left out. On the other hand, I would encourage adding the written clapping parts. For more creativity, improvisational beatboxing can enhance rhythms even more. Have fun with it.  Audio tracks generated with Cantamus software
