Alphasongs A Cappella music catalog features works of my own lyrics and music. These works feature purely vocal harmonies and "Hand Rhythms". The rhythms you hear in my demos are often clapping but I would invite beat boxing or other rhythmic enhancements in performance using what's in the score as a starting point. The song was first conceived as a nice 5-part harmony about friends getting together to play a game. As the lyrics started to come together so did an actual idea for a real storytelling game with rules and strategies and fun. So, Come My Way is both a fun song to perform and a storytelling game to play.

Dreams Shine Like the Sun

One of my earlier songs, realizing that dreams do illuminate our lives and the directions we set ourselves on. Hopefully some vocal harmony sunshine to fit this sense of joy, basking in the sunshine of a dream.

The song starts with this 4 bar phrase on the song title. And then the 4 bars repeat itself, through the entire song. Around this central theme, the other 4 parts weave their way through different sections of the song, with a story about driving around town.

I tried to capture the energy of a city coming to the sporting event. Sections of vocal fanfare for fans on their way to the big game, RAH RAH!!!

An amusing tale of the Itsy Bitsy spider gone amuck. After climbing the water spout, Itsy comes back down and trips into a pool of radioactive waste. The rest of the story is just a click away.

Joscelyne Strong

Written for my friend Joscelyne Gray. I sang with Joscelyne several years ago. More recently, Joscelyne has been a pillar of strength in her battle with ovarian cancer. Several treatments and difficult outcomes but through it all, her spirit never dies.

Move Forward

This song is a very personal self-reflection and messaging that came from a period right before the pandemic. I was in a state of complex-PTSD discovering and recognizing both persistent childhood and more recent psychological traumas I was wounded from. This song was therapy.

My America

A calm steady song about nurturing personal change. A story of learning to walk your own path and finding the right place to sow the Seeds and bear the harvest of persistent efforts.

A four-part musical relay created on a constraint of having the note, F-natural in one or more parts on every single beat of this song from beginning to end. There is always one voice, with lyrics shown in Boldface, that is either singing F-natural or temporarily having another voice cover F-natural on that beat. When another voice joins on singing F-natural the baton gets passed as we Sing it Forward.

Skip on the Crazy Side

“Skip on the crazy side”, is an affirmation to keep composing. Skip on the Crazy Side' features a repeating phrase but happening in a different voice in every measure among the 5 part harmony. The soprano voice is featured and telling the affirmation of Skip on the Crazy Side.
