I've always loved Yellow Submarine and in my data engineering profession we often talk about "Deep dives." Well I've been in a deep dive this last month but I'm surfacing in August. Let me refresh on what's been going on.
I am now in the process of getting 5 new songs together for the www.Alphasongs.net website. The scores for these five have been composed. All that remains are final edits for publishing. This will take a few weeks. For two of these songs, I have been collaborating with a lyricist. We are finishing our written working contracts so we can proceed on other songs. More details about this in an upcoming post, but I'll just say these two songs are part of an exciting project on the horizon. I'm really excited about the 3 new songs I'm releasing with my own lyrics. One is a window into my state of mind as complex trauma was knocking me down a few hours every day before the pandemic in 2020. The other 2 songs have real fun game elements associated with them.
My current reality is that I am still a full time senior data engineer with a Fortune 500 company. I design databases and help manage and maintain them. That is my current primary endeavor. My composing is still part time, but retirement from data engineering is just around the corner. I just feel blessed to have nurtured these new skills to compose and publish music which started just over 4 years ago,. At this point, I am not yet truly working on the marketing and distribution of my scores, but I do need to amp it up a bit.
So today, I'll be preparing a new Feature Song. Also I will be adding some new recordings to my SoundCloud, and spending some time researching other avenues for these recordings. But my primary endeavor after my engineering work is to publish this new music for you to enjoy. Keep in touch Matthew
